Stopping Power is a Tier Two perk in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War that increases the amount of damage of a player's weapons by 40%. In almost all situations this means that one less bullet will be required for a kill. This perk is canceled out by and cancels out the Juggernaut perk. Stopping power will not increase the damage of explosives such as C4, Satchel Charges, Bouncing Betties or Claymore Mines.

Stopping power is most often used on a M16 and sniper rifles as it often allows a kill in one hit, and is the most commonly used perk in the game. However, it is not advisable for use with shotguns as they are very powerful without it.

This perk can be effective with multiple weapons. This perk with the ACOG equipped M16 is an effective substitute for those who like long range fights but are inexperienced with sniper rifles. With the AK-47 or M60, two rounds in the kill container can easily drop a medium ranged opponent. The SAW with Stopping Power seems to be quite effective due to its high rate of fire. This perk can also compensate for lower powered weapons such as SMGs. Players may use this with the MP5 or P90 while retaining the weapons mobility and high Rate of Fire. Some ways you can beat this is to aim a little higher. Headshots have the same effect as Stopping Power.

Stopping Power is used in the same way as in Call of Duty 4. Players will often use them with high rate of fire weapons like the Thompson or the PPSh-41, making it a powerful LMG substitute.

While it may come in handy for high rate of fire weapons, it can also be combined with Rifles and bolt action rifles. Using a Gewehr 43 with the perk, this weapon becomes very deadly to the right person's hands, due to the extremely low recoil, far range, and high damage. Also, with any bolt action rifle, one shot can drop an opponent down at the stomach or above (it is a one-shot-one-kill if scoped.)
